Quality Tolerance Policy
How we grade, what tolerances apply, and how quality claims are assessed.
1. Grading basis
Each order is graded against the specification confirmed in the order lock: variety, caliber band, pack and grade. Where a product is covered by AGMARK grade designation, that grade is referenced. These grading tolerances apply to Shimla storage apples and all other origins we load.
2. Tolerances
| Parameter | Default tolerance |
|---|---|
| Off-caliber units | Up to 10% by count, adjacent band only |
| Minor defects (skin, shape) | Up to 10% by count |
| Major defects (rot, damage) | Up to 2% by count |
| Transit weight loss | Target below 1.8% of dispatched weight |
Contract-specific tolerances, where agreed, replace these defaults.
3. Inspection & claims
Buyers inspect at unloading. Claims must be raised within 24 hours of delivery with photographs of the pack, labels and defects, and the delivered weight slip. Where needed, a joint or third-party inspection is arranged.
4. Resolution
Validated claims are settled by price adjustment, replacement in the next dispatch, or credit note, as agreed. Losses caused by storage or handling after handover are excluded.
Contract-specific terms agreed in writing take precedence over this page. Questions: info@bulkybusiness.com.
